Went for dinner on a Sunday. Very cute and family-owned vibes. Sat at the bar and had great service, she was helpful in recommending what to order. Husband had ground sausage sauce and really liked it. I had garlic and oil. Happy they have angel hair pasta as an option! Tiramisu was also great, phone did not eat first.
The street parking was taken, however they did have Valet mid day! The bar is in front, easy to access and grab a bite for Lunch/Dinner. The tortellini was smooth, very fresh, creamy, and tri colored with different tastes! The Margaritas were smooth and strong just how I like them, and the Moscato that my wife ordered was one of my favorite that I've had, not sure the brand. I ordered the Chickken Vesuvio was tender, the sauce was garlicky with a perfect wine reduction . The potato's flavored properly and cooked just to the right tenderness. The peas, although seemed canned, were cooked with the right attention and love that made them fit right in. This is DEFINITELY a hidden gem near the UIC campus down a dead end street. Absolutely worth the money, time, and consideration for lunch, dinner, drinks and especially Dessert! Sitting at the bar we had personal attention with a friendly and professional bartender! The Ambiance was what you expect out of an Italian Cafe & Restaurant!! Don't miss this place!!!!!
The parking was the worst complaint about this restaurant which made getting there a pain. The service was subpar. They could use a couple more workers. The lady that sat us was quite busy, and the waitress as well. Sitting outside made us thirsty so maybe bigger water glasses would of helped. I wanted to be adventurous and try the grilled calamari, but I would just stick to the fried calamari. It basically tasted like the grill it was cooked on. My spouse really enjoyed the chicken limon. The bolognese was good, but I would definitely get it with spaghetti. It is a great neighborhood restaurant to get some classic Italian.
I found Tufano's on Eater Chicago, and I'm so glad I did. We sat on the patio and the weather was amazing for it. Little Italy is a cool place, and I'd like to come back and explore it. They bring out fresh bread for everyone to start. We ordered the caprese salad, which was great. Then I got the portobello ravioli that was on special (that white sauce was *chef's kiss*, and my husband got the angel hair pasta with mussels. We finished it up with cannoli. It was all very very good! 10/10 would recommend. Our server was Eva - she was fantastic, as well. This whole place was very neat, overall. They are cash or Venmo only.
BEST ITALIAN IN LITTLE ITALY The service was amazing! The workers were so kind and accommodating. The ambience was great, we ate outside under the string lights what a night
Delicious! Our server Phoebe was very prompt and friendly. The eggplant parm was great - big portion and good flavor. Everything was a huge portion -- the chicken and potatoes was like three meals. We sat outside next to a pretty fountain and it was a lovely summer evening!
This is a classic chicago-Italian restaurant in Little Italy with a no frills, authentic vibe and experience overall. From the old time decor and classic chalkboard menus, cash/venmo only service, and Italian staff- this is what you come to Little Italy for! We had some drinks at the bar while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive - my espresso martini was creamy and tasty. We got a nice patio table by a beautiful fountain and enjoyed the delicious food. Portions are generous and amazingly priced. We got a bottle of montepulciano with the meal, and I loved the little wine cups instead of fancy glasses. The bread was tasty and warm. We also got fried calamari and bruschetta to share, and these were both delicious and huge. For my entree I got the half lemon chicken, which was huge! So much delicious and flavorful chicken with tasty potatoes. My side salad was also a big portion for just $6. My boyfriend's linguine with clams in red sauce had lots of delicious clams in a flavorful sauce. Everything was so scrumptious. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!
I went to Tufanos yesterday for a birthday party. The food was fantastic. Salad, fried calamari, stuffed shells, meatballs and chicken over linguini. They removed the pine nuts from the chicken dish due to my tree nut allergy. Very nice and no one even missed the pine nuts. They did a great job!
Came in on a night of a hawks game and loved seeing the buzz at this place. It was crowded but we got a table with no wait and I love that valet service. I went with a group of Irish friends who were not down to order a bunch of things and split so I will have to go back with some Italians calamari was fresh and cooked well. My D&D pasta was good but I wish I ordered a meatball or sausage on the side to go with it. Another old school Italian place reminded me of sitting in my grandparents kitchen listening to a hockey game and eating good food.
